Kings, Artest look for third straight win

Feb 22, 2008 - 1:09 PM Sacramento (25-28) at Charlotte (19-35) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - Mike Bibby was traded. Ron Artest was not. So it goes for the Sacramento Kings, who look for their third straight win on Friday against the skidding Charlotte Bobcats.

Despite strong interest from Denver, Artest remained with the Kings as the trade deadline passed. The lack of a move came after Bibby was sent to Atlanta on Saturday for four players.

Artest, who has scored at least 20 points in nine of his last 10 games, finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and three steals in Wednesday's 119-107 victory over the Hawks.

"He is a great player, one of probably four or five two-way players in this league that affect a game at both ends of the court," said Sacramento coach Reggie Theus. "He's playing smart, he's playing aggressive."

The Kings are 2-0 since trading Bibby during All-Star weekend.

The Bobcats, 2-8 in their last 10 games, are coming off their second-worst shooting performance in their four-year history. Charlotte shot 28.6 percent in a 85-65 loss at San Antonio on Tuesday. The Bobcats' starters shot 26.5 percent (13-of-49).

Sacramento is 4-0 at home against Charlotte, but has never beaten the Bobcats in three road games. The Kings won the first meeting of the season, 105-91, at home on January 30.
