Celtics open four-game homestand vs. Bobcats
Feb 29, 2008 - 3:04 PM Charlotte (19-38) at Boston (44-12) 7:30 pm ESTBOSTON (Ticker) -- All-Star Ray Allen and the Boston Celtics open a four-game homestand against the shorthanded Charlotte Bobcats on Friday.
In a possible Eastern Conference finals preview, Allen scored 22 points and fellow All-Star Kevin Garnett chipped in 18 and 11 rebounds in a 92-87 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Concerned about their depth in the post for the stretch run, the Celtics signed veteran big man P.J. Brown for the rest of the season.
"Just trying to make a dream come true," Brown said. "I feel like there's one thing missing from my career, and Boston's pretty much been coming after me the whole year.
"I thought the one thing that kept the door open was trying to come back and win a championship, and I feel this team has a great chance to do it."
On January 9, Jason Richardson buried the Celtics for 34 points in Charlotte's 95-83 victory here in the last meetings between the clubs.
However, Richardson remains questionable for Friday's game after leaving the Bobcats' 113-89 setback against the New York Knicks with a right eye contusion.
Charlotte is already without leading scorer Gerald Wallace, who is expected to stay sidelined for the next two weeks due to a concussion.
