Warriors strive to continue Heat's misery
Mar 7, 2008 - 3:37 PM Golden State (37-23) at Miami (11-47) 7:30 pm ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors blamed complacency for their most recent success loss. For the Miami Heat, apathy has been the problem for most of this forgettable season.
The Warriors and Heat both look to rebound from poor performances when then meet on Friday.
Golden State had won four straight before dropping a 118-109 decision Wednesday to the Charlotte Bobcats. Monta Ellis scored 32 points and Baron Davis added 30 in the setback.
"We didn't deserve to win because we came in expecting to win," Warriors forward Stephen Jackson said. "We didn't play our game of basketball. We weren't focused."
Miami has dropped 29 of its last 32 games and has not defeated a team with a winning record since downing the Utah Jazz on December 22, 104-102.
For Heat coach Pat Riley, who has chastised his team for a lack of effort on several occasions this season, it all reached a boiling point again following Wednesday's 108-83 home loss to the Toronto Raptors.
"That was hard to watch," Riley said. "The starting unit just did not come in the first three quarters at all with any life, any energy or any commitment.
"You don't give a free pass on the lack of effort and a horrible attitude. The attitude that they showed - I should write a check tomorrow to each season ticket holder and send them back at least for tonight. It's just an apathetic approach on our part. It's so unprofessional, it's ridiculous."
In the previous meeting between these teams this season, Golden State posted a 120-113 home victory on December 7. Jackson scored 28 points in the win.
