Sixers attempt to close out March on high note
Mar 30, 2008 - 1:01 PM Philadelphia (37-36) at Cleveland (40-33) 6:00 pm EDTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- At the beginning of March, the Philadelphia 76ers appeared to be just another struggling Eastern Conference team. However, as they close the month, they are playing some of the best basketball in the league.
The Sixers target their 12th in 15 games this month when they travel to Quicken Loans Arena to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Following a 22-point loss at the hands of Golden State on February 29, Philadelphia fell to 26-33. However, since that setback, the Sixers have won 11 of 14, including a five-point win in Boston, to put themselves over .500 for the first time this season.
Philadelphia followed the win in Boston with a 22-point home rout of Chicago on Wednesday, but was unable to keep up its winning ways in a 107-93 loss to Phoenix on Friday. Andre Miller had 16 points but the Sixers were not able to overcome 39 percent (35-for-89) shooting from the field.
Cleveland, which is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings and three games ahead of the Sixers, has dropped three straight, including an 85-71 setback in Detroit on Saturday.
Even though the Cavaliers had their nine-game home winning streak snapped Wednesday against New Orleans, they still carry a 24-11 at Quicken Loans Arena into Sunday's contest.
