Melo, Nuggets aim to bounce back vs. Sonics

Apr 6, 2008 - 2:14 PM Denver (46-30) at Seattle (17-59) 9:00 pm EDT

SEATTLE (Ticker) - Attempting to bounce back from a disappointing loss, the Denver Nuggets face the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday.

Despite getting 47 points from Anthony, Denver fell short against the Sacramento Kings with Saturday's 118-115 loss at the Pepsi Center.

"There is no reason for this team to come in here and beat us on our own floor," Nuggets guard Allen Iverson said. "As serious as this game was and the magnitude of this game, there was no reason for it."

The Nuggets find themselves tied with Golden State (46-30) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. Both clubs are just one game behind Dallas (47-29) for the seventh spot.

Seattle dropped its fifth consecutive game with Friday's 79-66 setback to the Houston Rockets. Rookie Kevin Durant was held a just four points on 2-of-17 shooting.

"They're a good defensive team and when guys are not making shots, or are reluctant to shoot it, they just pack it in a little bit tighter," Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo said.

Last time these teams met, Marcus Camby had a triple-double as the Nuggets scored a league-high 168 points in a win over Seattle on March 16.
