Ford, Calderon lead Raptors into Game Four
Apr 26, 2008 - 1:15 PM Orlando at Toronto 3:00 pm EDT Eastern Conference first round Magic lead, 2-1TORONTO (Ticker) - When the two-headed monster of T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon are hitting on all cylinders, the Orlando Magic better watch out.
The sixth-seeded Toronto Raptors look to even up their Eastern Conference first-round series against the third-seeded Magic in Game Four on Saturday.
Ford poured in 18 points and Calderon added 18 and 13 assists for the Raptors in Thursday's 108-94 victory in Game Three over the Magic, who still leads the series two-games-to-one.
"We're halfway to our goal, which is to get back to 2-2," Ford said. "We have to take care of business again on Saturday."
After two lackluster outings, Ford and Calderon finally stepped up and contributed in a huge way against Orlando's Jameer Nelson and Maurice Nelson.
"I thought the story for them (Raptors) was really their point-guard play, and we are going to need a much better performance," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said.
Despite struggling early in the game, Chris Bosh finished with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists for Toronto, which finally was able to limit Dwight Howard after a pair of historic performances.
Howard, who battled through foul trouble most of Game Three, finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, well below his average of 27 points and 21 boards entering the game.
While the Raptors have an opportunity to even the series, the Magic still believe they have the upper hand.
"Most definitely we have control," Orlando forward Rashard Lewis said. "We are up two-games-to-one and we are still confident that we can come into this building and win a game, and that is what we are going to do on Saturday."
