Thunder look to snap four-week skid against Grizzlies

Nov 29, 2008 - 11:22 AM Oklahoma City (1-16) at Memphis (4-12), 8:00pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- For the Memphis Grizzlies, it's been nearly two weeks. For the Oklahoma City Thunder, it's been almost a month. But one of the two will have to come out of Saturday's "showdown" victorious.

The Thunder are in the midst of a 14-game losing streak dating to November 2, when they won their only game of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After failing to repeat the feat in Friday's rematch against Minnesota, they will try to pick up win No. 2 against the slumping Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis has dropped five straight, though four of the losses have come to either the Utah Jazz or San Antonio Spurs - not exactly lightweights. The other was to the Dallas Mavericks, who have won five of six. Still, nothing can hide the fact that the Grizzlies are among the least efficient scoring groups in the league, with only O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay providing genuinely explosive offense.

The two are scoring a combined 41.9 points per contest. In Friday's loss to San Antonio, Mayo poured in 32 on 13-of-20 shooting, while Gay added 26 while hitting 11-of-17.

The Thunder have their own hot-shot scorer in second-year guard Kevin Durant, but have provided little production around him. He is averaging nearly 22 points per game while shooting at a 46 percent clip.
