Pacers try to limit Howard, Magic

Nov 29, 2008 - 11:23 AM Indiana (6-9) at Orlando (12-4) 7:00 p.m. EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers saw first hand how dominant Dwight Howard could be eight days ago.

Indiana will look for a way to contain the big man and avenge an overtime loss when it plays the Orlando Magic on Saturday.

Howard put together an impressive stat line in the first matchup between the teams, collecting 24 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks. A rejection of Rasho Nesterovic sent the game into overtime and Rashard Lewis took over from there, scoring seven of his 23 points in the extra session as the Magic won, 100-98.

Orlando has won three straight, including a 105-90 triumph over Washington on Thursday. Howard had 26 points and 14 rebounds while Hedo Turkoglu added 20 and 10.

Howard leads the NBA with 13.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game and ranks second behind Denver's Nene at 59 percent shooting from the field.

Indiana has lost six of eight, including a 115-108 overtime title to Charlotte on Friday.

Danny Granger scored a season-high 35 points on 14-of-21 from the field in the loss. He battled foul trouble throughout as the Pacers lost a fourth-quarter lead without him in the game.

Marquis Daniels and T.J. Ford added 20 apiece for the Pacers, who open a stretch of seven road games in nine games.
