Terry, Mavericks clash with Clippers

Dec 2, 2008 - 3:05 PM LA Clippers (3-13) at Dallas (8-8) 8:30 p.m. EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Playing well and back at home, Jason Terry and the Dallas Mavericks are poised to get above .500 for the first time this season when they host the lowly Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

Terry continued his strong play on Saturday, helping the Mavericks bounce back from a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers by burying the Sacramento Kings, 101-78.

Terry came off the bench to score 24 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 19 as Dallas pulled away in the second half to defeat the Kings for the eighth time in nine meetings.

The veteran guard, Terry has averaged 26.6 points over the last five games, converting 54 percent (54-of-100) from the floor, and providing a spark off the bench as the Mavericks have won six of their last seven contests.

Dallas returns to American Airlines Arena to open a season high seven-game homestand against the Clippers, who ended a four-game losing streak and won for the first time in six home contests by outlasting the Miami Heat, 97-96, on Saturday.

Making his first start with his new team after being acquired from the New York Knicks on November 21, Zach Randolph scored eight of his 27 points during a 13-0 run that gave Los Angeles a 93-86 lead with three minutes remaining.

Randolph grabbed 13 rebounds while Al Thornton poured in 27 points during the victory.
