Nuggets hope to have Anthony back vs. Raptors

Dec 2, 2008 - 3:09 PM Toronto (8-8) at Denver (12-6) 9:00 p.m. EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets are putting a nice run together and may be getting their superstar back.

The Nuggets hope to have Carmelo Anthony ready to play when they host the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.

Anthony left in the second quarter of Sunday's, 104-94, win over the Houston Rockets after aggravating a right elbow injury.

Less than 24 hours later, Anthony underwent nearly 30 minutes of electronic treatment designed to speed up the healing process.

"(My elbow) feels good when I'm not doing anything," Anthony told the Denver Post. "But when I start to shoot and pass, that's when it starts hurting."

Anthony, 24, said he hopes to return to the lineup Tuesday.

"(The team) is going to have to tell me (if I can play,)" he told the Post. "It's hard for me to say that I'm not playing. I'm not used to that."

If Anthony sits, the Nuggets will turn to point guard Chauncey Billups, who scored 24 of his 28 points in the second half to lead the team over the Rockets. Billups posted 27 points in a win at Minnesota on Saturday.

The Raptors are coming off a 112-99 loss at the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Chris Bosh, who is averaging 26.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, was limited to 12 and six against the Lakers.
