Blazers aim for sixth straight win

Dec 3, 2008 - 2:27 PM Portland (13-6) at Washington (3-12) 7:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers are undefeated at home, and the road is turning out to be equally as friendly.

The Trail Blazers will be gunning for their sixth straight win and third in a row on the road when they visit the lowly Washington Wizards on Wednesday.

Portland is 7-0 at home this season but had struggled to a 4-6 mark on the road before embarking on a five-game East Coast road trip. Wins over Detroit and New York have their record away from the Rose Garden back up to .500, and the Blazers appear to be building momentum by the day.

Budding stars Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge have carried most of the scoring load recently. The pair combined for 40 points in Tuesday's 104-97 win against the Knicks, marking the third straight game they have put up 40 or more as a tandem.

Portland also boasts a strong defense, allowing an average of 93 points per game.

The Wizards, on the other hand, rank as one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, allowing 103 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting.

Washington is coming off what was probably its best game of the season, a 108-88 win over the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday.

Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison scored 22 points apiece as the Wizards shot 52 percent (44-of-85) from the floor while allowing the Nets to shoot 40 percent (31-of-77).
