Thunder seeking consecutive wins

Dec 3, 2008 - 3:01 PM Oklahoma City (2-16) at Charlotte (6-11) 7:00 p.m. EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- A new coach may slowly be changing the losing culture of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Interim coach Scott Brooks tries to lead the Thunder to back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

Brooks, who lost each of his first four games at the helm after taking over for the fired P.J. Carlesimo on November 22, finally earned his inaugural victory on Saturday as the team claimed a 111-103 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Kevin Durant scored 30 points and Jeff Green had 22 as the Thunder snapped a franchise-record 14-game losing streak and picked up their first win since an 88-85 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 2.

While Brooks is only 1-4 with Oklahoma City, the Thunder have been much more competitive during that span than under Carlesimo.

After suffering a 22-point drubbing against the New Orleans Hornets in his coaching debut, Oklahoma City endured a one-point loss to the Phoenix Suns and dropped a 105-103 decision to the Timberwolves sandwiched around a 35-point setback to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 13 games under Carlesimo, the Thunder never lost by less than four points and dropped nine games by double digits.

After losing four straight games, the Bobcats have alternated wins and losses over their last five contests and are coming off a 100-90 victory against Minnesota on Monday.

Jason Richardson scored a season-high 25 points against the Timberwolves and has averaged 22.7 points in the last three games following his return from right knee surgery, which forced him to miss seven contests.
