Raptors look to build on win vs. Nets

Dec 12, 2008 - 11:20 AM Toronto (9-12) at New Jersey (11-9) 7:30 p.m. EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Nothing has gone quite as planned for the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors will look to put a winning streak together when they face the New Jersey Nets on Friday.

Toronto expected to contend this season, trading for forward Jermaine O'Neal in the offseason and letting go of point guard T.J. Ford to clear the way for Jose Calderon. The team has failed to get off the ground, however, and its lackluster play recently brought about the firing of head coach Sam Mitchell.

Interim boss Jay Triano managed to pick up his first win on Wednesday when the Raptors snapped a five-game slide with a 101-88 triumph over the Indiana Pacers.

Calderon had 14 assists and O'Neal added 10 points and nine rebounds against his former team while Chris Bosh produced another double-double with 21 points and 10 boards.

The Nets are coming off a 121-109 setback against the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

New Jersey, which entered the contest allowing 103.3 points per game, allowed the Knicks to shoot 51 percent and sent them to the line 35 times.

Devin Harris had another big game, however, collecting 32 points and seven assists. It was the seventh time that he has broken the 30-point barrier.
