Bobcats look to snap slide vs. Pistons

Dec 13, 2008 - 11:28 AM Detroit (12-9) at Charlotte (7-16) 7:00 p.m. EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats are getting an infusion of players used to winning. Whether they will help the team climb out of its current hole remains to be seen.

The Bobcats will welcome Boris Diaw, Raja Bell and Sean Singletary when they attempt to snap a five-game losing streak against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

Charlotte pulled off a trade on Wednesday, sending top scorer Jason Richardson to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Diaw, Bell and Singletary.

Both Diaw and Bell had seen their roles in the Suns' offense change when head coach Terry Porter took over for Mike D'Antoni this season and will now have to blend into Larry Brown's defense-first philosophy. Bell, who has been one of the better perimeter defenders in basketball over the last few seasons, and Diaw, who provides a big body with passing skills in the front court, should fit in nicely.

A shorthanded Bobcats squad dropped a 95-90 decision at Dallas on Thursday despite getting 27 points and 17 rebounds out of center Emeka Okafor and 16 points and six assists from Raymond Felton.

The Pistons snapped a three-game slide with a 114-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Richard Hamilton scored 28 points and Allen Iverson chipped in 17 and 12 assists for Detroit.

It was the first time this season that Iverson had reached double-digits in assists. Detroit moved to 8-9 since acquiring Iverson.
