Heat searching for offense outside of Wade

Dec 14, 2008 - 7:28 AM Miami (12-10) at Memphis (8-15) 4:00 p.m. EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- If the Miami Heat want to contend for a playoff spot, they will need someone besides Dwyane Wade to step up and score.

The Heat look to bounce back from a loss when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

Wade leads the NBA in scoring, averaging 29.1 points per game, and has also added 7.3 assists. Rookie Michael Beasley is averaging 13.9 points a contest and ranks second on the team in that category.

The 26-year-old guard, Wade averaged nearly 35 points during Miami's recent four-game win streak, which came to a halt on Friday when the team suffered an 87-73 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Wade finished with 21 points against the Hawks, his fifth-lowest output of the season, but was still the team's leading scorer as no other player managed more points than rookie Mario Chalmers' 14.

After enduring a seven-game losing streak, the Grizzlies have won three in a row and four of their last five, including a 103-96 victory against the Chicago Bulls on Friday.

Rudy Gay recorded a season-high 29 points and Hakim Warrick scored 12 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter as both players overshadowed the matchup between Rookie of the Year candidates Derrick Rose and O.J. Mayo - the first and third picks in this year's draft, respectively.
