Timberwolves still searching for first win of December

Dec 15, 2008 - 2:33 PM Minnesota (4-19) at Sacramento (6-18), 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- It won't be a very Merry Christmas for the Minnesota Timberwolves if they don't find a way to end their current losing skid.

The T-Wolves will try to snap a nine-game losing streak when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Monday.

It could be Minnesota's best chance to end the slide before the holiday. Following the Kings, the Timberwolves will face three teams (Cleveland, Houston and San Antonio) with a combined record of 50-21.

Al Jefferson scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds Sunday, but Minnesota fell to the Los Angeles Lakers, 98-86. The Timberwolves have not won since defeating the putrid Oklahoma City Thunder on November 28.

Jefferson leads the team with 21.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

Sacramento has not been much better this season, losing 10 of its previous 11 contests - including a 114-90 setback to the New York Knicks on Saturday.

The Kings made just 3-of-23 (13 percent) shots from the arc in that one. At 29 percent for the season, Sacramento is the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA.
