Hawks look for more sparks at home against Bobcats

Dec 15, 2008 - 2:41 PM Charlotte (7-17) at Atlanta (14-9), 7:00 p.m. EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Hawks have suddenly made Philips Arena quite an obstacle for their opponents.

In the early stages of an eight-game homestand, the Hawks can win their seventh straight game at home and third overall when they host the struggling Charlotte Bobcats on Monday.

The Hawks, who last won seven in a row at home from February 18-March 24, 1998, are coming off a 97-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday.

Atlanta is 8-1 at home, compared to 6-8 on the road this season. The Hawks were 25-16 at Philips Arena in 2007-08, en route to clinching their first playoff berth since 1998-99.

Joe Johnson, who is averaging 22.9 points this season, has posted 25.2 points per game in 14 career contests against Charlotte, and scored 30 in the Hawks' 88-83 win over the Bobcats on November 21.

Charlotte has dropped six consecutive games, including a 90-86 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday. Gerald Wallace had 22 points and nine rebounds in his return after missing three games following the death of his grandmother.
