Carter, Nets look to end skid against Raptors
Dec 15, 2008 - 2:44 PM New Jersey (11-11) at Toronto (10-13), 7:00 p.m. ESTTORONTO (Ticker) -- After a surprisingly successful start to the season, the New Jersey Nets are scrambling to find a way to get back on track.
Vince Carter and the Nets look to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Toronto Raptors on Monday.
The Nets have suffered through several poor shooting efforts to spoil their 11-8 start. Carter was the main culprit in New Jersey's 101-79 loss to the Raptors on Friday, posting an 0-for-13 effort from the floor.
A member of the Raptors for 5 1/2 seasons, Carter bounced back the next night and poured in 39 points, but the Nets fell, 113-104, to the Chicago Bulls.
The last time these teams met in Toronto, the Nets rallied from an 18-point deficit to notch a 129-127 overtime victory on November 21. Carter capitalized on a reverse dunk off Bobby Simmons' inbounds pass with 2.1 seconds left to the seal the win and begin a stretch during which the Nets won five of six.
Toronto is coming off a 99-91 loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday, and has dropped six of its last eight contests.
Chris Bosh had 25 points and eight rebounds, while Jose Calderon contributed 22 points on Sunday for the Raptors, who fell to 2-4 under interim head coach Jay Triano.
