Struggling T-Wolves look to snap skid vs. Rockets

Dec 20, 2008 - 3:04 PM Houston (17-9) at Minnesota (4-21), 8:00pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- New head coach Kevin McHale continues his search for his first win as the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

Minnesota has gone 0-6 since Wittman was fired on December 8 and lost 11 straight overall.

The team's offense continues to stagnate despite featuring All-Star-caliber forward Al Jefferson. The club has just reached the 100-point mark just twice all month - including a season-low 70 points in Wednesday's 23-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Third-year point guard Randy Foye - who the team hoped would take a big step forward this season - has struggled so far this season. The former seventh overall pick is shooting just 39 percent this season and averaging just 5.4 assists.

The T-Wolves shot 41 percent (29-of-71) against Cleveland, including a combined 0-of-12 by Kevin Love and Rashad McCants.

The Rockets, meanwhile, have won six of eight this month and have been spurred on by the return of Tracy McGrady, who has been battling a sore knee all season and was expected to be out until around Christmas but came back about two weeks early. In the four games since his return, he has averaged 20.3 points and 7.5 assists - including a triple-double in Thursday's 108-96 win over the Denver Nuggets.
