Hawks hope to continue home dominance vs. Thunder

Dec 23, 2008 - 11:15 AM Oklahoma City (3-25) at Atlanta (17-10), 7:00pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Over the last 10 days, the Atlanta Hawks have come up with three of their biggest wins. On Tuesday, they look to avoid a letdown.

With victories over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons still fresh in their memory, the Hawks host the woeful Oklahoma City Thunder as they try to win for the sixth time in seven games.

It's been a crucial two-week stretch for Atlanta, which closed out a four-game road trip with an 87-73 triumph over the Miami Heat - not only a division rival, but one of the teams against whom the Hawks will likely be competing for a playoff spot. Since then, they have returned to the comfort of their own home for a season-high eight-game homestand.

Philips Arena has served them well during that time, as they snapped the Cavaliers' 11-game winning streak and nearly did the same to the reigning champion Celtics two nights later. The Hawks are 11-2 at home overall - the fourth-best mark in the NBA.

The Thunder, meanwhile, have one win on the road - and three victories overall. They broke their eight-game skid on Friday, toppling the struggling Toronto Raptors before running head-first into a red-hot Cleveland team on Sunday and falling, 102-91.

Oklahoma City is led by second-year players Kevin Durant and Jeff Green, two of the only bright spots in an otherwise miserable campaign. The two combine to average about 39 points per contest.
