Lakers look to continue home success
Dec 28, 2008 - 7:52 AM Golden State (9-22) at LA Lakers (24-5), 9:30 p.m. ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- After exacting a measure of revenge, the Los Angeles Lakers hope to avoid a letdown when they host the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
In their first meeting since losing to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals in June, the Lakers ended the champions' 19-game winning streak with a 92-83 victory on Thursday.
Pau Gasol scored seven of his 20 points in the final three minutes, keying the Los Angeles win. Kobe Bryant led the way with 27.
The win was the 12th straight at the Staples Center for the Lakers, who are a Western Conference-best 15-1 at home.
Although the Warriors are enduring a poor season, they do have something in common with the defending Western Conference champions - a victory over the Celtics this week.
Golden State posted a come-from-behind 99-89 triumph over Boston on Friday. The Warriors, who have two wins in their last nine games, outscored the Celtics, 35-17, in the fourth quarter.
Stephen Jackson returned from a four-game absence to score 28 points in the win.
