Pistons go for five in a row against Nets

Dec 31, 2008 - 4:44 PM New Jersey (15-16) at Detroit (18-11) 3:00 p.m. EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons have struggled through inconsistent play since acquiring Allen Iverson, but appear to be rounding into midseason form prior to the new year.

They go for a season-high fifth straight win when they host the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday.

In its last contest, Detroit snapped the Orlando Magic's seven-game winning streak with an impressive victory, 88-82, on Monday.

Rodney Stuckey led the way with 19 points, Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace scored 16 and Iverson added 15 as Detroit won despite scoring just 18 points in each of the final two quarters.

Detroit committed only three turnovers in the contest and hope to finish off a three-game homestand with two more wins against New Jersey and Sacramento before heading out West for a four-game trip.

The Nets are happy to hit the road after another home loss, this one a 100-87 defeat against Chicago on Monday.

Vince Carter scored 31 points and Devin Harris added 26 as the pair of guards were the only players to manage double figures.
