Ailing Pistons go for sixth straight win

Jan 2, 2009 - 11:09 AM Sacramento (8-24) at Detroit (19-11), 8:00 p.m. EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons may be a little banged up. But they're starting to play some of their best basketball of the season.

Detroit looks to extend its season-high winning streak to six games when it hosts the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Without Richard Hamilton, who missed his third straight game with a groin injury, the Pistons posted an 83-75 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday. Antonio McDyess also missed the game with sore ribs and Rasheed Wallace left in the second quarter with a sore foot.

Allen Iverson scored 19 points to lead Detroit, which has won its last three games without topping the 90-point mark.

Sacramento snapped a six-game losing streak on Tuesday, edging the Los Angeles Clippers, 92-90.

Kevin Martin returned from an ankle injury to score 20 points and Brad Miller made two free throws with 46 seconds left to lead the Kings. Martin had missed the past 10 games and 22 of 24 with the injury.
