Howard, Magic try to stay red-hot at home

Jan 2, 2009 - 11:10 AM Miami (17-13) at Orlando (25-7), 7:00 p.m. EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic have felt very comfortable on their home floor this season. They have also enjoyed playing against the Miami Heat in recent years.

Orlando goes for its ninth straight victory at Amway Arena when it hosts the Miami on Friday.

The Magic have not lost at home since a 100-95 setback to the Houston Rockets on November 22. They have also won nine straight meetings with the Heat, sweeping the four-game season series each of the last two campaigns.

Rashard Lewis scored 21 points to lead seven players in double figures as Orlando posted a 113-94 victory over Chicago on Wednesday. Dwight Howard had his 23rd double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Miami has won five of its past six, including Tuesday's 104-95 triumph over Cleveland.

Dwyane Wade and rookie Mario Chalmers each scored 21 points to lead the Heat in the win. Wade currently leads the NBA in scoring at 28.7 points per game.
