Hawks look to bounce back against Rockets
Jan 3, 2009 - 11:18 AM Houston (21-13) at Atlanta (21-11), 7:00 p.m. ESTATLANTA (Ticker) -- It took a deep buzzer-beater, but the Atlanta Hawks' winning streak came to an end Friday.
The Hawks hope to get back into the win column Saturday when they host the Houston Rockets.
Atlanta blew a 20-point halftime lead and fell to New Jersey in overtime, 93-91, on Vince Carter's game-winning 3-pointer from well beyond the arc.
Mike Bibby scored 22 points and Josh Smith had 20 in the loss for the Hawks, who have won five straight at home and are 14-2 on their home floor overall.
Houston opened a five-game road trip with a 94-73 loss at Toronto on Friday.
Von Wafer scored 18 points off the bench to lead the way for the Rockets, who only got 35 points from their starters in the loss. Tracy McGrady had four points on 2-of-9 shooting in 29 minutes.
