Wade, Harris matchup when Heat meet Nets
Jan 3, 2009 - 11:19 AM New Jersey (16-17) at Miami (17-14) 7:30 p.m. ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- Everyone knows Dwyane Wade is a superstar. Devin Harris is just trying to throw his name into the conversation.
Wade and Harris will square off Saturday when the Miami Heat host the New Jersey Nets.
Wade leads the NBA in scoring at 28.7 points per game and adds 7.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game to his nightly resume for Miami.
The All-Star guard has also been remarkably healthy this season, shaking off a pair of injury-plagued seasons. He has suited up in each of the Heat's 31 contests this campaign.
Miami has won five of its last seven games but is coming off an 86-76 loss to Orlando on Friday. Wade scored 33 points but only two other players managed more than eight points in the game for the Heat.
Harris scored 26 points to lead the Nets to a 93-91 overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, dishing out 11 assists in the contest as well.
The 25-year-old, who is averaging 23.6 points and 6.5 assists, has found a home in New Jersey after being acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in a trade for Jason Kidd last season.
Harris sat out a 99-94 loss to the Heat in the first meeting of the season while Wade scored 33 points to lead the charge on November 10.
Harris was back in the starting lineup for the rematch on December 20 but shot just 5-of-15 from the floor as New Jersey again fell, 106-103. Wade scored 43 points in that December meeting, hitting 16-of-18 free-throw attempts.
