Nuggets open long homestand against Hornets

Jan 3, 2009 - 1:00 PM New Orleans (20-9) at Denver (22-12), 9:00 p.m. EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony ended the Denver Nuggets' recent road trip in style. Now the team will enjoy a lengthy stay at the Pepsi Center.

Denver opens a season-long, seven-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts the New Orleans Hornets.

The Nuggets capped a 3-1 road trip with a 122-120 triumph at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. Anthony made the game-winning 3-pointer with one-tenths of a second left, moments after Kevin Durant had given the Thunder the lead with a 3-pointer of his own.

Anthony finished with 31 points and Nene had a season-high 27 points and 14 rebounds on 10-of-11 shooting for Denver, which is 11-4 at home this season.

The Hornets are on a four-game winning streak, which ties a season high.

David West scored 25 points and Chris Paul had 17 and 11 assists as New Orleans posted a 92-77 victory over Portland on Friday.

New Orleans won the first meeting at Denver, 105-101, on November 27.
