Surging Spurs look to take advantage of stumbling Sixers

Jan 3, 2009 - 12:56 PM Philadelphia (13-19) at San Antonio (21-11) 8:30 p.m. EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs will be looking to claim their seventh win in eight games when they face the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

The veteran Spurs are no strangers to success and are unleashing their brand of stout defense and balanced offense on the NBA.

After having its five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, San Antonio responded with a 91-80 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. Tim Duncan led the way with 20 points on 8-of 11 shooting and added 10 rebounds.

Tony Parker added 19 points and Manu Ginobili came off the bench to chip in 13 points. The two guards are averaging 22 and 14.3 points per game, respectively.

The Spurs are 12-3 since December 4 and are holding opponents to 94 points per game over that stretch.

The 76ers began the season with high expectations but have gone 6-13 since opening 7-6.

They suffered their fifth loss in the last six games on Friday, falling at Dallas, 96-86.
