Raptors go for third straight win

Jan 5, 2009 - 2:45 PM Toronto (14-20) at Milwaukee (16-19) 8:00 p.m. EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- After a miserable month of December, the Toronto Raptors have begun to turn things around in January.

Winners of two in a row, the Raptors take to the road to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday as they try to put together their longest winning streak of the season.

Toronto has struggled under interim head coach Jay Triano, who took over for the fired Sam Mitchell on December 3. But the Raptors came up with two upsets in a row last week, trouncing the Houston Rockets and edging the Orlando Magic - two playoff teams from last season who are expected to be back in the postseason.

The team has been buoyed by the recent play of former No. 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani, who is averaging 21.0 points over his last three games since being re-inserted into the starting lineup in place of injured center Jermaine O'Neal.

The Bucks, meanwhile, have jumped into the playoff picture but are still searching for their identity. They fell to Charlotte on Saturday as center Andrew Bogut sat out with back spasms.

Milwaukee is led by All-Star guard Michael Redd, who has returned from an ankle injury to lead the team in scoring at 19.4 points per game. He had 31 points in a 103-75 blowout over Charlotte on Friday.
