Road-challenged Celtics take on Bobcats

Jan 6, 2009 - 3:14 PM Boston (29-6) at Charlotte (12-22) 7:00 p.m. EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The road seems to be the Achilles heel of the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics will be looking to bounce back from yet another road loss when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday.

After beginning the season with an NBA-record 27-2 start, Boston has dropped four of its last six games - all on the road. It started out with a 1-3 trip to the West Coast over the holidays, but things got especially uncomfortable on Sunday.

The Celtics suffered their first loss to an Atlantic Division opponent in a 100-88 loss at the New York Knicks on Sunday. Boston got 31 points from Paul Pierce and 16 from Ray Allen but no one else reached double figures.

The offense has been the problem in each of the Celtics' past four losses, with the team averaging 86.5 points - down from 100.9 points per game on the season.

The Bobcats snapped a three-game slide Saturday with a 102-92 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Gerald Wallace led the way with 24 points and Boris Diaw added 21 to pace five players in double figures.

This will mark Boston's second trip to Charlotte this season. The Celtics took the first meeting, 89-84, as Pierce scored 19 to help hold off a late rally.
