Knicks hope to avoid letdown vs. lowly Thunder

Jan 6, 2009 - 3:50 PM New York (13-19) at Oklahoma City (4-30) 8:00 p.m. EST

OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks took down one of the NBA's best teams. Now they have to carry the momentum against one of the NBA's worst.

The Knicks will be eyeing their third win in four games when they visit the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

New York pulled off a stunner Sunday, pulling off a 100-88 win over the stumbling Boston Celtics. Wilson Chandler scored 31 points and Al Harrington came off the bench to add 30 for the Knicks against the reigning NBA champs.

The 88 points allowed was a season low for New York, which allows an Eastern Conference-worst 107.2 points per game.

Since joining New York in November in a trade from the Golden State Warriors, Harrington is averaging 22.7 points and 6.5 rebounds while providing the team with a dynamic inside-outside threat off the bench.

The Thunder own the worst record in the NBA and are coming off a 122-120 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday. Kevin Durant scored 33 in the loss and leads the team in scoring at 23.8 points per game.

The Knicks took the first meeting between the teams, 116-106, on November 14. Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph, both of whom have since been traded, each scored 29 points apiece.
