Rockets conclude road trip at Thunder

Jan 9, 2009 - 11:43 AM Houston (22-15) at Oklahoma City (5-31), 8:00 p.m. EST

OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The Houston Rockets are hoping a victory over the defending champions signals the end of their road woes.

Houston goes for its second straight win away from home when it concludes a five-game road trip at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.

The Rockets had lost five straight on the road before posting an 89-85 victory at the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

Yao Ming scored 26 points to lead Houston, which played without Tracy McGrady due to a knee injury. Von Wafer made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 43 seconds to play.

Oklahoma City appeared to have some momentum after winning two of three for the first time this season, but that was quickly erased on Wednesday.

Minnesota scored 42 points in the first quarter and blew out Oklahoma City, 129-87, for the Thunder's worst loss of the season.

Rookie Russell Westbrook had 16 points and a season-high 12 assists for the Thunder, who have lost both of their meetings with the Rockets this season by double digits.
