Wizards, Bobcats brace for low-scoring battle

Jan 10, 2009 - 11:23 AM Charlotte (13-24) at Washington (7-28) 7:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Points could be hard to come by, but one team not used to winning is going to go home with a 'W' on Saturday.

The Charlotte Bobcats will be looking to snap a two-game slide when they visit the Washington Wizards.

The Bobcats are the lowest-scoring team in the Eastern Conference - averaging just 91.4 points per game - and the Wizards rank second to last at 93.5 - nearly three points per game below any other team in the East. Not coincidentally, the Southeast Division foes own the two worst records in the East.

Charlotte fell at Philadelphia, 93-87, on Friday and has dropped the first two games of a four-game road trip. Emeka Okafor led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds but no other starter managed to reach double figures against the 76ers.

Gerald Wallace, who leads the team in scoring at 17 points per game, was held to six points on 3-of-11 shooting - the first time he has failed to score in double figures since December 6.

Washington has dropped three straight and has not reached 100 points in the last seven games, topping 90 points just once in that span.

The Wizards fell at Chicago, 98-86, on Friday. Nick Young came off the bench to score 28 points, but Antawn Jamison led all starters with 12 points and Caron Butler managed two points on 1-of-8 shooting.
