Streaking Timberwolves go for sixth straight win

Jan 13, 2009 - 2:41 PM Miami (19-17) at Minnesota (11-25), 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves will try and stay perfect in 2009 when they host the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

After winning just six of their first 31 contests, the Timberwolves have won all five of their games in the new calendar year.

Rodney Carney scored a season-high 22 points off the bench and Al Jefferson added 20 as Minnesota rallied for a 106-104 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday.

As well as the Timberwolves have been playing lately, not one of their wins has been against a team with a winning record - something that would change if they can beat the Heat.

Miami will be playing the fourth contest of a seven-game road trip, going 1-2 in its previous three.

Dwyane Wade had 27 points and nine assists and rookie Michael Beasley scored 23 off the bench in the loss.

Minnesota has not won six straight games since a nine-game run from March 27-April 14, 2004 - the last year the Timberwolves have made the playoffs.
