Nets look to bounce back vs. Blazers

Jan 15, 2009 - 11:39 AM Portland (23-15) at New Jersey (19-20) 7:30 p.m. EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- After taking one on the chin, the New Jersey Nets will need to show they can get off the mat.

The Nets will be looking to bounce back from an embarrassing defeat when they face the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday.

New Jersey went into Boston on Wednesday and suffered its worst loss of the season, 118-86. Devin Harris scored 17 points but Vince Carter, who banged his knee in the first quarter and briefly left the game, managed just four points on 1-of-10 shooting.

The Nets allowed the Celtics to shoot 56 percent (44-of-78) and were outrebounded, 45-32.

Returning home might not be the best thing, as New Jersey is one of the few teams in the NBA with a better record on the road (10-8) than at home (9-12).

The Blazers are coming off a tough loss as well, 100-79 at Philadelphia. Brandon Roy scored 27 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 15 but no other Portland player managed double figures as the team shot 39 percent (28-of-71).

Unlike the Nets, the Blazers struggle on the road, owning a 9-11 mark away from the Rose Garden. They are in the middle of a four-game East Coast swing and have split the first two stops, earning a win Monday at Chicago.
