After wild win, Magic go for seventh straight

Jan 17, 2009 - 11:25 AM Orlando (32-8) at Denver (27-13), 9:00 p.m. EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic continue to prove that they are a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.

After a thrilling victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Magic go for their seventh straight win when they visit the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

Jameer Nelson scored 15 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and Dwight Howard had 25 and 20 rebounds as Orlando overcame Kobe Bryant's triple-double to win a wild 109-103 contest on Friday.

Nelson had 10 of his team's final 13 points and made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 35 seconds to play, giving the Magic a 104-103 lead. It was the contest's 19th lead change - 15 in the fourth quarter alone.

It was the first series sweep of the Lakers for the Magic, who are an NBA-best 15-5 on the road this season.

Denver is wrapping up a season-high seven-game homestand and has gone 5-1 thus far.

Chauncey Billups scored 26 points and Kenyon Martin had 24 as the Nuggets defeated the Phoenix Suns in overtime on Thursday, 119-113.

The Nuggets have won nine of their past 11 overall and are 16-5 at home this season.
