Nuggets look to take advantage of Rockets

Jan 19, 2009 - 2:02 PM Denver (27-14) at Houston (25-16) 2:00 p.m. EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Rockets did not need their full complement of stars to win their last game. The next one looks a little bit tougher.

The Rockets will be looking to post back-to-back wins when they host the Denver Nuggets on Monday.

With Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest still nursing injuries, Yao Ming has been picking up the slack. The 7-6 center is coming off one of the best shooting games in franchise history on Saturday, knocking down 12-of-12 from the field en route to 26 points and 10 rebounds.

The perfect mark from the field set a Houston record for the most attempts in a game without a miss as the Rockets pulled out a 93-86 win over the Miami Heat. Rafer Alston added 22 points and Von Wafer chipped in 17.

McGrady, who is nursing a sore knee, and Artest, who has missed the last four games with an ankle injury, are both questionable for Monday's contest.

The Nuggets are on pace to equal the best record in franchise history at 54-28, set back in the 1987-88 season. They are coming off a 5-2 homestand in which they dropped the finale Saturday against Orlando, 106-88.

Denver won the first meeting between the teams this season, 104-94, on November 30 as Chauncey Billups scored 28 points.
