Bobcats set to test streak against Spurs

Jan 19, 2009 - 2:03 PM San Antonio (26-13) at Charlotte (16-24) 2:00 p.m. EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats will be looking to push their season-high winning streak to four when they face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

The Bobcats will have a new teammate ready to go against the Spurs after having acquired center DeSagana Diop from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins.

Diop is expected to provide a strong interior defensive presence to a team that allows 94.1 points per game.

That defense, combined with a strong effort from Gerald Wallace, has been at the heart of Charlotte's streak. Wallace collected 31 points and 16 rebounds and Emeka Okafor added 22 and 11 as the Bobcats earned a 102-97 overtime win against Portland on Saturday.

The Spurs are attempting to finish up their three-game road trip with a winning record. They dropped the first game of the trip, 109-87 at Philadelphia but recovered to post a 92-87 win at Chicago on Saturday.

The win over the Bulls ended a three-game stretch in which San Antonio had allowed at least 100 points in each contest.
