Struggling Grizzlies hoping to snap skid

Jan 21, 2009 - 11:25 AM Memphis (11-29) at Charlotte (16-25), 7:00 p.m. EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Memphis Grizzlies will try and snap a six-game losing streak when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

Memphis has lost 10 of its past 11 and is well on its way to another dismal season. The Grizzlies have only won 22 contests in each of the past two seasons.

Rudy Gay and rookie O.J. Mayo each scored 15 points to lead Memphis in its latest loss, an 87-79 setback to Detroit on Monday.

Charlotte, which has not had a winning season in its four years of existence, has been starting to show signs of improvement.

The Bobcats had their three-game winning streak snapped on Monday, falling to the San Antonio Spurs, 86-84.

Raja Bell scored 25 points and Boris Diaw added 16 and 13 rebounds for Charlotte. Diaw's game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out.

Charlotte is 5-4 this month and has won nine of its past 16 games.
