Paul, Hornets hope to notch fourth consecutive win

Jan 23, 2009 - 11:20 AM New Orleans (26-13) at Minnesota (13-27), 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Thanks to Chris Paul, the New Orleans Hornets are not feeling the sting of two key injuries.

Paul and the injury-bitten Hornets seek their fourth straight victory when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

In a convincing 102-92 win over the New Jersey Nets, Paul barely missed his fifth triple-double of the season by posting 29 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Tyson Chandler and David West each continued to miss time with various injuries.

West, second on the team with 20.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, missed his first game of the season during Monday's 103-100 win over the Indiana Pacers because of back spasms.

Chandler, meanwhile, suffered a sprained ankle in the second quarter and X-rays did not show any serious damage.

New Orleans, which has won 11 of its past 13 home games, will play seven of its next eight at home after visiting Minnesota.

The Timberwolves had their two-game winning streak halted with a 112-107 setback to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

Minnesota, which is 6-13 at home this season, has won four of its last five at the Target Center.
