Wizards aim to close road trip with win

Jan 24, 2009 - 11:33 AM Washington (9-33) at Portland (25-17) 10:00 p.m. EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Washington Wizards are struggling to win anywhere, but their play on the road has been particularly brutal.

The Wizards try to wrap up their four-game road trip with a win on Saturday when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers.

Washington, which is six games behind the Indiana Pacers for last place in the East, fell to 3-17 away from home after suffering a 117-97 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

Antawn Jamison poured in 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the first half, but was held scoreless during the final 24 minutes as the Wizards failed to win back-to-back games for the first time this month after claiming a 110-107 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Bouncing back won't be easy for Washington against the Trail Blazers, who are tied with the Houston Rockets for the third-best home mark in the West with a 15-5 record at the Rose Garden.

However, Portland is coming off a 104-98 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, failing to find its rhythm from the field.

The Trail Blazers hit only 33-of-81 (41 percent) from the floor, connecting on 7-of-22 3-point shots.
