Heat, Hawks meet in Southeast showdown

Jan 26, 2009 - 3:09 PM Atlanta (26-17) at Miami (23-19) 7:30 p.m. EST

MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat are looking to move up the Eastern Conference standings. Taking out another Southeast Division power will be a good place to start.

The Heat will be looking to take down their second consecutive Southeast Division foe when they meet the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

Dwyane Wade led Miami to a 103-97 win over first-place Orlando on Saturday, collecting 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Rookie Mario Chalmers added 20 points, six assists and three steals.

The win snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Magic.

The Heat could again be without forward Shawn Marion, who missed the game against Orlando due to a strained left groin. Marion has been the subject of trade rumors recently, with the latest reports sending him to Toronto along with Marcus Banks in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal.

The Hawks, who sit in second place in the Southeast, had their three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday in a 104-99 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Atlanta went 5:50 at the end of the fourth quarter without a field goal.

Josh Smith collected 19 points and 12 rebounds and Joe Johnson chipped in 15 points and 13 assists for the Hawks, who fell to 17-5 at home.

Atlanta won the first meeting between the teams, 87-73, on December 12. Johnson led the way with 21 points.
