Nets look for back-to-back wins vs. Thunder
Jan 26, 2009 - 3:16 PM New Jersey (20-24) at Oklahoma City (9-35) 8:00 p.m. ESTOKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- After snapping a losing streak against one of the worst teams in the Western Conference, the New Jersey Nets will look to begin a winning streak at the expense of another.
The Nets will be attempting to post back-to-back wins for the first time in three weeks when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.
New Jersey ended its season-high five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 99-88 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Vince Carter led with 23 points and Devin Harris added 17 points and eight assists without committing a turnover.
It was the Nets' best defensive performance in January, as they held the Grizzlies (11-31) to 43 percent shooting to mark just the second time this month that they held a team under 90 points.
The Thunder are one of only three teams in the West with a worse record than Memphis, though they have won four of their last seven contests.
But Oklahoma City is coming off a 107-104 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday in which they allowed 58 percent (11-of-19) shooting from beyond the arc and committed 18 turnovers.
The setback obscured a great game from second-year stud Kevin Durant, who went off for 46 points and 15 rebounds, converting a franchise record 24 free throws in 26 attempts.
