Heat needs banged-up Beasley vs. Wizards

Jan 28, 2009 - 11:35 AM Washington (9-35) at Miami (24-19) 7:30 pm. EST

MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat are banged up, but it may not matter against the floundering Washington Wizards.

The Heat hope to have star rookie Michael Beasley in the lineup on Wednesday when they shoot for a third straight win against the Wizards, who have the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

The NBA's leading scorer, Dwyane Wade recorded 35 points and the Heat held the Hawks scoreless for 13 1/2 minutes at one point in a 95-79 win on Monday.

There was some bad news though, as Beasley - the second overall pick of June's draft - left the game after banging knees with Josh Smith in the second quarter and did not return. The team is calling it a bruised left knee.

The team's second-leading scorer at 13.2 point per game, Beasley said he expects to play vs. Washington.

The Wizards got some bad news of their own on Tuesday, when it was announced that center Andray Blatche will miss two to four weeks with a strained left knee. Washington has lost three straight and 10 of its last 12.

Caron Butler scored 28 points in a 103-87 loss to Phoenix on Monday.
