Baron Davis eyeing return when Clippers host Bulls
Jan 28, 2009 - 11:26 AM Chicago (18-27) at LA Clippers (10-34) 10:30 p.m. ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers have struggled without several key players in the lineup. A boost, however, is on its way.
Baron Davis is expected to return to the Clippers Wednesday when they host the Chicago Bulls.
Los Angeles has lost 16 of its last 18 games, including a 113-88 setback against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
Greg Oden scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Blazers, who were able to take advantage of a Clippers frontcourt that is decimated with injuries as Marcus Camby (sprained left ankle), Zach Randolph (sore left knee) and Chris Kaman (strained left arch) remain sidelined.
Davis will help to hedge those losses when he comes back after missing 13 games with a bruised tailbone and a hamstring injury.
Davis, who signed a five-year, $65-million deal during the offseason after opting out of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, is averaging 17.3 points and 8.0 assists in 30 games this season.
The 29-year-old guard will need some time to regain his rhythm, and the Bulls are the perfect team to help him find his form.
Chicago has lost five straight, including a heartbreaking 109-108 overtime setback against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
Randy Foye ended a back-and-forth extra period by banking a driving layup high off the glass with 41 seconds left, giving the Timberwolves a one-point lead.
Derrick Rose's leaner bounced off the rim in the final seconds and both Aaron Gray and Luol Deng missed opportunities to tip in the game-winner before the ball bounced out of bounds to Minnesota with seven-tenths of a second left.
