Pistons aim for another win against division-leading Cavs

Feb 1, 2009 - 12:06 PM Cleveland (36-9) at Detroit (25-20) 2:30 p.m. EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons have struggled to find wins of late. Surprisingly they have little trouble beating division leaders that are not the reigning NBA champions.

The Pistons try to end their recent drought when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.

Detroit suffered its third loss this season to the Boston Celtics, dropping an 86-78 decision on Friday. The setback was the Pistons' eighth in the last 11 games as they continue to trail the Cavaliers in the Central Division.

Despite the recent slide and lack of success against the Celtics, Detroit is 5-0 when playing other teams leading a division in 2008-09, including victories over Orlando, San Antonio, Denver, the Los Angeles Lakers and a 96-89 win vs. Cleveland on November 19.

Allen Iverson scored 23 points and Rasheed Wallace added 21 in that game to pace the Pistons, who overcame 25 points from LeBron James by limiting him to just 8-of-21 shooting from the field.

James scored 25 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 20 in his return from a fractured left ankle, leading Cleveland to a 112-95 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, its fifth win in the last six games.
