Bulls eye season-high winning streak vs. Rockets

Feb 3, 2009 - 3:21 PM Chicago (21-27) at Houston (29-19) 8:30 p.m. EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- A seven-game road trip could have spelled doom for the struggling Chicago Bulls. Instead, it has sparked a resurgence.

The Bulls will be looking to run their winning streak to a season-high four games when they face the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

Chicago dropped the opener of its trip, a 109-108 setback in overtime against the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 25 to push its losing streak to five games and its record to a season-low- nine games below .500.

But a pair of blowout wins over Western Conference doormats, the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings set the stage for a dominating 122-111 win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.

The Bulls set a season high with a 55.6 field goal percentage against the Kings and shot 50 percent against the Suns. Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose scored 26 points apiece against Phoenix.

The Rockets are still trying to get on the same page with a lineup that seems to change by the day due to injury. Tracy McGrady, who had missed 16 games with a balky left knee, injured his left ankle in practice and did not play against the Golden State Warriors.

Yao Ming and Ron Artest, who combined to miss 11 games in January due to injury, combined for 52 points to lift Houston to a 110-93 win over the Warriors.
