Timberwolves look to rebound vs. Pacers

Feb 3, 2009 - 3:25 PM Minnesota (16-30) at Indiana (19-29) 7:00 p.m. EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves started January off on fire. The end on the month was not quite as kind.

The Timberwolves hope to end a four-game losing streak Tuesday when they face the Indiana Pacers.

After beginning the season with just six wins in the first 31 games, Minnesota righted the ship in January, kicking off the month with 10 wins in 12 games. But the Wolves ended the month with home losses against the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers.

Their problems against the top teams continued on Sunday as they fell at Boston, 109-101, despite Kevin Garnett missing the game with the flu. Former Celtics Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Sebastian Telfair combined for 61 points.

While the offense has not been a problem of late, Minnesota has been quite kind to its opponents on the defensive end. Boston shot 48 percent from the floor and the Lakers shot 51 percent en route to 132 points - the most the Wolves have surrendered in a game this season.

The Pacers can score with the best of them, averaging 104.7 points per game - tops in the Eastern Conference. All-Star Danny Granger leads the charge, averaging 25.5 points, and Mike Dunleavy has chipped in 15.6 points in 14 games since returning from a knee injury.

Indiana is coming off a 122-113 loss to the New York on Saturday, when T.J. Ford led the Pacers with 36 points.
