Defense optional as Knicks visit Warriors

Feb 10, 2009 - 3:15 PM New York (21-29) at Golden State (17-35), 10:30 p.m. EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Plenty of points should be scored when the New York Knicks visit the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

The matchup features two of the highest scoring offenses and worst defenses in the NBA. Golden State allows a league-high 111 points per game.

New York, which surrenders 106.6 per contest, has dropped its past four games, including the opener of a three-game West Coast swing on Sunday.

Brandon Roy scored on a driving layup at the buzzer, lifting Portland to a 109-108 victory over New York. David Lee had 29 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Golden State won its second straight home game on Sunday, blowing past Utah for a 116-96 victory.

Corey Maggette led seven players in double figures with 24 points for the Warriors, who were without center Andris Biedrins due to a sprained right ankle.

Chris Duhon had a franchise-record 22 assists in the first meeting between the teams, helping New York defeat Golden State, 138-125, on November 29. The Knicks had 82 points in the first half.
