James, Cavs looking to end first losing streak of season
Feb 11, 2009 - 11:33 AM Phoenix (28-22) at Cleveland (39-11) 7:00 p.m. ESTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Thanks to a controversial foul call, the Cleveland Cavaliers are riding their first losing streak of the season.
The Cavaliers look to avoid a third straight loss on Wednesday when they host the Phoenix Suns in their final game before the All-Star break.
After suffering its first home loss of the season following 23 straight wins at Quicken Loans Arena during a 10-point setback to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, Cleveland failed to bounce back on Tuesday, dropping a 96-95 decision to the Indiana Pacers.
LeBron James scored 47 points - his second-highest output of the campaign - but bumped Danny Granger while he was attempting to convert an alley-oop pass with 0.2 seconds left, allowing the Pacers' forward to record the winning point with his first free throw.
The disputed call sent Cavaliers coach into a frenzy after the game.
"Do I care (if I get fined)?" Brown said. "I don't care if I get fined. It is what it is. I saw the two plays. It was a bad call. (Official Joey Crawford) determined the outcome of
that game. If they want to fine me for telling the truth, they can fine me for telling the truth."
The call on the other end also involved Granger, who had fouled James on the prior possession, while the Cavaliers' superstar was attempting an identical alley-oop conversion with four-tenths remaining. James nailed both free throws to tie the game at 95-95.
Cleveland will now try to rebound against the Suns, who have lost four of their last seven games overall, including a 108-91 setback to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
Phoenix has dominated the Cavaliers, however, winning each of the last four meetings and 15 of 18 overall.
